The Nintendo Wii – Innovating the Video Game Experience Or Cheapening It?
Post by Brendan
When the Nintendo Wii came out a few a long time in the past, I was intrigued. Whilst I had no intention of purchasing it due to the fact I was a Sony loyalist, I was interested in the way Nintendo appeared to be taking the gaming expertise. The only controller characteristic I had utilised before the Wii was the rumble pack, which wasn’t really impressive. The Wii’s motion sensing, dual controllers had been an innovation to the gaming business that permitted the player to immerse himself in the game. I had my doubts, even so, that our present stage of technological innovation could help our hopes for this console.
I’ll be blunt and say that the Wii is nowhere near the gaming revolution that people say it is. Nintendo manufactured it show up that way by presenting a game library that PS3 and Xbox failed to have (Mario Celebration and the like). But other than video games that appeal to a wider demographic, the Wii isn’t really considerably diverse from its competitors. The PS3 also has a controller with motion sensing and several video games use its capabilities, even though it suffers from the exact same flaw of the Wii: it isn’t going to add to game play. I always thought that the next step in gaming would be virtual fact, though that jump may well be implausible and smaller sized actions would will need to be taken in amongst taking part in a game on Tv with a controller and donning a headset and entering a virtual entire world. It looks like consoles are just tinkering with added functions like obtaining to swing the controller like a tennis racket in buy to play a sports game. Such attributes are exciting for a time, but I never want to have to flail my arms about and hit innocent passers by each time I load up a game.
While I will not believe the Wii is that wonderful of a system and that Nintendo should be paying more respect to the older generations by presenting top quality games, I do give it credit for pushing technological innovation onto gaming consoles. Without having the Wii, who understands if companies like Sony and Microsoft would actually introduce movement sensing into their systems with out strain from Nintendo.
Right now, the Wii is caught in a engineering limbo, ahead of PS3 and Xbox 360 in terms of system capabilities and movement sensing, but not quite at the level of virtual fact, in which a new level of gaming would be defined. I have to hand it to Nintendo, their video games are not that fantastic, but they are pioneering the breakthroughs in gaming technology and I look ahead to viewing what attributes are on the following console.
